Professional Care Workers’ Week

This week we’re celebrating Professional Care Workers’ Week 2023 – Hosted by The Care Workers’ Charity for the 6th year running, this event is a celebration of care workers and the essential work they do, and was created to promote awareness and raise the profile of care workers in the UK.

At Abicare we are so proud of all our care staff for their hard work and dedication on a daily basis, often going above and beyond to ensure that all our clients receive the care they deserve, which is why we offer the following benefits to all staff:

  • Discount cards to use online or in high street shops.
  • Vouchers and certificates for our monthly Butterfly Awards winners.
  • Vouchers for our company quiz winners.
  • Team social events so you know the Abicare family around you.
  • A mental health first aid team, to offer support if needed.
  • Free online courses on wellbeing and much more.

Most recently, some of our staff have received awards and recognition for their hard work – Kate Ball is one of our extremely hardworking and dedicated Bradford-on-Avon carers – she has pursued tirelessly to raise the profile of Social Care and the incredible work done by carers. She has been on ITV News, in the Wiltshire Times, contacted local MPs, as well as going to local businesses to help fly the flag for care. She recognises that rather than waiting for ministers or the industry to react, we need to create our own opportunities.

Kate was also nominated as a ‘Carer of Note’ at 2022’s Healthcare Show in London.

In April 2023, Christel Hay from Abicare Wales won the WeCare Wales Award held by Social Care Wales, and Tracey Jenkins, Abicare’s Wales Care Operations Director was a finalist in the Effective Leadership category.

Christel is a real inspiration, at the age of seventy nine she gave up her retirement to join Abicare as a domiciliary care worker, feeling she still had more to give.

You can find out more about Christel and why her award is so well deserved here.

We also like to be an active presence in the local community, celebrating events with our clients, as this video shows.
