Find out what you need in order to get a Live-in care assistant
If you are looking for a bit of extra help or support in your own home, Abicare can help you to find out exactly what you need in order to have a Live-in care worker.
What is a Live-in care assistant?
Live-in care is when a carer comes and lives with you in your home 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide extra support either on a short or long term basis. At Abicare, all our Live-in care workers are fully vetted, trained and experienced, with all the necessary credentials.
We will work with you to create a tailor made care plan based on your needs and preferences, so that you can receive the best care possible from a carer that has been carefully matched to you.
What a Live-in carer needs
A Live-in carer is employed to live with and care for you, enabling you to live as independently as possible in your own home. However, there are a few preparations you should make before they start. There are a few practicalities that you need to consider to ensure that they can work, rest and live in comfort.
A space of their own
Live-in carers need their own private space, both to sleep in and to have time to themselves. The bedroom doesn’t have to be large, just a standard single room. It is important that the room is clean, well heated, well-lit and has good ventilation. We want to make sure your Live-in carer is comfortable, so a bed and wardrobe is needed.
Live-in carers will need access to a bathroom. They don’t need to have a private en-suite, but please do ensure that the bathroom is clean, functional and that there is a place for them to store their toiletries.
As your Live-in carer will be living with you or your loved one, whether it be for a long or short period of time, we would expect them to have use of the Wi-Fi and preferably have a TV in their room, so that they can feel as comfortable and as at home as possible.
Live-in Care Assessment
Once you have all of these things in place, a Live-in care assessment is the first step in matching you with your ideal carer. The wellbeing of our clients is at the heart of Abicare – We will aim to complete your FREE care assessment within 24 hours of your initial enquiry, and have the carer in post within 24-48 hours.
During your assessment, the Care Manager will discuss with you and your family members what you want from your Live-in carer, and create a care plan that suits you and is tailored to your needs. Part of your care plan will also be based on your likes, dislikes and preferences, so that we can match you with a suitable carer.
We provide day Live-in care, night Live-in care and 24/7 Live-in care to ensure that you can live independently and comfortably for as long as possible in your own home.
