Carbon Reduction Plan
Abicare Services Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Company: Abicare Services Ltd
Publication Date: March 2026
1. Commitment to Net Zero
We recognise the urgent need for climate action and are dedicated to integrating sustainable practices into every facet of our operations. This plan outlines our current emissions footprint, our reduction targets, and the active projects we are implementing to minimise our environmental impact and support a sustainable future.
This commitment is fully endorsed by our leadership team and forms a core part of our Environmental Policy.
2. Baseline Emissions Footprint
A full baseline emissions footprint is currently being established in partnership with external consultants. The baseline year will be set as 2024, which will serve as the definitive point against which all future carbon reduction targets are measured.
The baseline will be calculated in accordance with the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard and will encompass all relevant Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
Baseline Year: 2024 (Dec 2023 – Nov 2024)
| Emissions Source | Emissions (kWh |
| Scope 1 (Gas Consumption) | 4,372 |
| Scope 2 (Purchased Electricity) | 27,365 |
| Scope 3 (Business Travel – Grey Fleet) | 828,183 |
| Total Emissions | 859,920 |
3. Current Emissions Reporting
This section will be updated annually with our latest emissions data to ensure transparent reporting of our progress.
Reporting Year: 2025 (Dec 2024 – Nov 2025)
| Emissions Source | Emissions (kWh |
| Scope 1 (Gas Consumption) | 4,372 |
| Scope 2 (Purchased Electricity) | 27,365 |
| Scope 3 (Business Travel – Grey Fleet) | 828,183 |
| Total Emissions | 859,920 |
ESOS Phase 3 reporting has been completed, providing initial data for Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions.
4. Emissions Reduction Targets
To ensure we meet our 2050 Net Zero commitment, Abicare has set the following interim targets:
- Short-Term (1-3 years): Complete full Scope 1, 2, and 3 baseline calculations. Implement “quick-win” projects related to travel and office energy.
- Medium-Term (by 2030): We project a carbon reduction of 3% against our baseline emissions.
- Long-Term (by 2050): Achieve Net Zero emissions across our entire operation.
We will track our progress against these targets and report annually.
5. Carbon Reduction Projects
Abicare has already implemented, or is in the process of implementing, the following projects to reduce our carbon emissions.
Travel and Transport (Key Impact Area)
- Route Optimisation: We constantly review service user route planning to create the most efficient rosters, minimising vehicle mileage and associated CO2 emissions.
- Alternative Transport: We actively encourage and are developing further “walking runs” for staff. We also promote the use of public transport and cycling where feasible.
- Vehicle Sharing: We propose and implement vehicle-sharing arrangements where appropriate to reduce total emissions from contracts.
Office and Operations
- Renewable Energy: Our office operations are powered by 100% renewable electricity, as certified by our supplier (ENGIE, Jan 2021 – Sep 2025).
- Office Footprint Reduction: We are actively seeking to reduce our overall office footprint, which will deliver significant savings on utilities, including gas and electricity.
- Energy Efficiency: We are implementing low-energy lighting solutions and energy-efficient IT systems across our locations to reduce overall energy consumption.
Employee and Work Practices
- Hybrid & Remote Working: We have established hybrid working arrangements for office staff to significantly reduce emissions from employee commuting.
- Virtual Meetings: We utilise video conferencing for meetings, interviews, and training sessions, drastically reducing the need for non-essential business travel.
- Paperless Office: We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint by transitioning towards a paperless office environment, minimising waste and the resources associated with paper production and transport.
Waste Management
- Waste Reduction: We are committed to minimising waste and promoting recycling and reuse. This includes recycling packaging, reducing single-use plastics, and ensuring proper recycling of all WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
6. Declaration and Sign-Off
This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 06/21 and associated guidance. The plan has been reviewed and signed off by the leadership team.
