Carers Week 2020
Running from 8th-14th June, this week is Carers Week. Carers UK have joined forces with Age UK, Carers Trust, Motor Neurone Disease Association, Oxfam GB and Rethink Mental Illness, plus organisations and individuals across the UK with the aim of ‘Making Caring Visible’.
Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, to highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.
That’s why the campaign for this year’s Carers Week is #Making Caring Visible – It is vitally important that we recognise the contribution carers make to their families and local communities, workplaces and society, and that they get the vital support they need.
There are 6.5 million people in the UK who are carers. They are looking after a family member or friend who has a disability, mental or physical illness or just need a bit of extra support. This year, people across the country are continuing to face new challenges as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
Due to the recent coronavirus crisis, Abicare have been able to help and support even more clients and their families- as well as providing our home care service, we have also worked in partnership with a number of hotels to provide live-in care to clients coming out of hospital, who aren’t quite ready to go back home and require a bit of additional care and support- we are proud to have helped to alleviate any pressure that may have been placed upon a number of family members in doing so.
We thank all our Abicare home carers and live-in carers, and every unpaid carer up and down the country, you’re all doing a wonderful job and you are appreciated!
