Winter Tips for Clients
As we approach the Winter season and the cold starts to set in, it’s important that all our clients are kept as healthy and
safe as possible. Following just a few simple tips can help with this:
1: Make sure that you get your flu jab- everyone aged 65 and over are entitled to a free flu jab from the doctor or
pharmacist. Even if you’re fit and healthy, it’s still a good idea to get the jab to help protect yourself and others.
However, you will also be entitled to a free flu jab if you have serious long-term health condition.
2: Check if you’re eligible for the pneumonia vaccine too- you can find this out when you have your flu jab.
3: Wash your hands regularly and ensure that you stock up on cold and sore throat remedies.
4: If you go out into the cold weather make sure that you wrap up warm and wear lots of layers, including a hat, gloves
and a scarf.
5: Make sure that your home is warm enough- the temperature in your living room should ideally be at 21 degrees, and
18 degrees in your bedroom. If you are struggling to keep your home warm, the following link offers some practical advice:

6: Keep active- even if you just move your arms and legs every hour it will help to keep you warm and mobile. The following

7: Eat well- Aim for at least one hot meal every day as well as warm drinks throughout the day.
8: Be aware of your surroundings to avoid any trips or falls. Falls are very common during the winter, when pavements can be
slippery underfoot and illness may weaken physical strength. At home, remove any trip hazards from the floor and take your
time whilst moving around the house.
