International Day Of Charity 2019 – How Abicare Helps!
Today is International Day Of Charity- Created by the General Assembly of the United Nations in recognition and celebration of the efforts of charitable organisations and individuals- the date of 5th September was chosen to commemorate the anniversary of the death of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received a Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her extensive humanitarian work.
As well as delivering care through our home care and live-in services, Abigroup are also proud of their dedication to corporate social responsibility. In recent years we have supported many charities including Dementia UK, Toilet Twinning and the Trussell Trust.
This year one of our chosen charities is the mental health charity, Mind. Statistically, one in four people every year will experience some sort of mental health problem.
Mind was set up to provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing mental health issues, as well as campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Visit https://www.mind.org.uk/ to find out more about Mind and the help and services that they offer.
As well as celebrating International Day of Charity today, the month of September also focuses on World Suicide Prevention Day on the 10th. This day sees organisations from around the world raise awareness about suicide prevention. Please keep an eye out for our World Suicide Prevention Day blog on 10th September.
