Fill a Stocking For a Senior 2023

Abicare’s yearly Christmas gift giving initiative is another great success in 2023!

Originally launched in 2018 and now in its 5th year (although there was unfortunately a two year hiatus due to the pandemic), our Fill a Stocking For a Senior campaign continues to go from strength to strength. 

Over 1.4 million elderly individuals in the UK can go for days at a time without any interaction with other people. Understandably, this can have a detrimental effect on their mental health and wellbeing, which is why we launched our Fill a Stocking For a Senior campaign.

Thanks to the generous donations from the general public in the South West and Wales, and the present wrapping skills of a number of pupils and staff from Chafyn Grove School in Salisbury and Blaenycwm Primary School in Wales, we were able to donate more gifts than ever this year to lonely and vulnerable people in local communities, including the following locations in Wales: 

Saxon Court – Warden controlled accommodation.

Bert Denning Centre – Learning Disabilities respite.

Lake View – A Dementia workshop.

Llys Nant y Mynydd- Warden controlled accommodation.

As well as giving a gift to someone whose day may need brightening, this yearly campaign is a great way to create caring communities by bringing people together to spread some Christmas cheer.
