Abicare

Paul is Abicare’s Group IT Manager – he manages a small team looking after the day to day running of IT to ensure its business as usual across all locations and services. Paul is responsible for the Network and systems security across IT and he has a side role of Information Security Officer, ensuring that we are always working in a risk averse Cyber Security manner.

Paul has an extensive career background in IT. He began working in Information Technology nearly 30 years ago, starting out in the Military where he was heavily involved in the first deployment of networked IT systems to over 40 Military Police locations across the UK, Northern Ireland, Germany and Cyprus. 

He also has over 20 years experience in the Children’s and Adult Social Care sector, working predominantly with children with Autism and other complex needs, and Adults with Learning Difficulties. Paul was in charge of managing IT growth from an initial 7 schools to over 350 schools, hospitals and residential facilities.

Abicare was a perfect fit for him as it allowed him to continue working in the Social Care Sector – His vision is to enhance the information governance standards within Abicare so that thinking about data security becomes second nature to all staff. He is also keen to deliver Cyber Essentials certification to Abicare.

Paul received an MBE for Services to IT in the Military in October 1999, which was presented by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
